Our Program

Grace Church Preschool & Kindergarten offers a multi-faceted program to foster inner security and a love of learning in every child.

Our classroom atmosphere, activities and curriculum help our students develop, at their own pace, in the following areas:

Emotional and social development: the atmosphere in the classroom encourages the expression of feelings. Children, rather than the teachers, suggest solutions for solving conflicts. Children participate in group activities such as circle time, story time and show-and-tell. There is also time each day for individual activities, including self-directed play with puzzles, games, dress-up clothes and in various learning centers.

Physical development: an array of activities, from painting at easels to jumping rope, builds small and large muscles. Teachers encourage children to experiment, discover, progress and achieve at their own rate. Children play outside on our playground almost every day, weather permitting, and participate in an indoor movement class once a week.

Intellectual development: the curriculum is flexible and encourages intellectual growth by developing the thinking process. Materials and games foster this process. These tools are used on an individual basis to help each child develop readiness skills in reading and math. Children learn colors, shapes, letters and numbers. They also learn about the world around them and their place in it.

Creative development: the program includes a variety of art experiences, including gluing, painting, drawing and woodworking. Children also play with sand and water, build with blocks, sing and make music together and listen to and dramatize stories. A music class also is held once a week.
